Mohawk Meet & Eat welcomes new site coordinator, eager to serve more people
We serve free, freshly cooked, homemade family style meals every day at Meet & Eat in Mohawk. Robyn Matthews, the new Meet & Eat site coordinator at the Keweenaw Pines, is eager to feed more people and provide fellowship to seniors. Meet & Eat is also available in Hancock, Chassell and Lake Linden.
Farm-to-School Update
Our farm-to-school program has empowered young palates at Houghton Elementary with fruity seltzer fun, had a culinary adventure with avocados making guacamole greatness at E.B. Holman and South Range Elementary, and cultivated a vision for school garden education with Baraga and Houghton Elementary school staff.
Keweenaw Co-operation
Our Meals on Wheels program has been selected as Keweenaw Co-op’s first 2025 recipient of the Bring-a-Bag program. For every bag saved, Meals on Wheels will receive funds, January through June!
Copper Shores featured in 2023 Western UP Food System Collaborative Annual report
We are honored to have made multiple appearances in the Western UP Food System Collaborative’s 2023 Annual Report. From launching our Farm-to-School pilot program (p. 08), conducting research with Community Health Educator Meghan Jaszczak, RD (p. 10 & 26), and featuring an article written by Meals on Wheels Program Director Kathleen Harter (p. 37), 2023 was a big year for food access.
Hancock Cold Season Tori Neighborhood Marketplace
Just because it’s winter doesn’t mean you have to wait for the farmers markets to return. Check out the cold season market on Saturdays, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Hancock Community Hub!
Christmas Cookies from SLACK
SLACK students celebrated the holidays by decorating cookies for the seniors in our Meals on Wheels program. It was fun, messy and delicious!
