We’re excited to introduce two brand new support groups! Check out Growth & Grace, a women's support group for those in recovery and those affected by addiction, and A Healthy You, a new afterschool program designed to help 6th through 8th graders build healthy relationships.
Community programming isn’t the only way we offer support. Christina Asiala and Kara Destrampe are committed to keeping high-quality healthcare close to home, and we’re happy to help them get there with the James Bogan Health Administration Scholarship. Make sure to congratulate them!
Speaking of, nearly 70 causes across Baraga, Houghton, Keweenaw and Ontonagon Counties are taking part in the 10th annual GiveCopperCountry celebration, making the GivingTuesday season the perfect time to support the organizations close to your heart. See the list of all the nonprofits.
🍼 👶 For those with littles in your life, we have two upcoming education opportunities. Parents, grandparents and other infant caretakers can now register for Building Blocks on November 7 to learn about infant feeding fundamentals from local health professionals! Registration is also open for Safe Sitter on November 14 and 15, giving middle schoolers the opportunity to learn life-saving skills for when they’re home alone or babysitting.
If you like what you see, and want to play a role in shaping future projects and opportunities with us, consider applying to become a board or committee member!
Heidi keeps the lights on, the bills paid and money flowing. As the Accounting Clerk, she plays a vital role in upholding the foundation’s integrity, maintaining financial records with great care and attention to detail. Much of what Heidi does goes unseen by the community, but her impact is nonetheless felt by those we serve. Every grant, program, project and service is made possible by Heidi’s commitment to responsible fiscal management. She is our unsung hero during GivingTuesday, making sure each donation reaches the right hands. She tracks and records well over 1,000 transactions during the GivingTuesday donation window and oversees the flow of nearly $1 million to our nonprofit partners, all while staying on top of her day-to-day responsibilities. Most impressive of all, she does all of this with a smile and sense of humor that keeps our team joyful.
Congratulations to our October 2026 Superior Educator - Rebecca Keyes of Houghton-Portage Township Schools. Read her nomination.
