Located at the Keweenaw Pines, this Meet & Eat site offers lunch Monday through Friday, with comforting feelings of home, and a panoramic view of the forest behind the apartments. Meals are not only free for those 60 and older, but attending also promotes daily physical activity and provides an opportunity to connect with others.
Rich Simpson takes on new role at Copper Shores
Rich Simpson has been with Meals on Wheels since June of 2021, taking up the helm as the operations director. During his time, Simpson has helped with the administrative transition from Copper Country Senior Meals to Copper Shores Meals on Wheels, and taken on much of the relationship building with local farmers for the LFPA grant. It will be announced in early January that Simpson is taking on a new role with Copper Shores Bridges. We’re going to miss having Rich around the kitchen on a daily basis, but we know he’s going to do incredible things with Bridges! As he begins his new role, Kitchen Manager Tribin Holbrook will continue to work closely with farmers as Meals on Wheels Program Director Kathleen Harter dives into LFPA funding!
Meals on Wheels chosen as Bring-A-Bag beneficiary
Copper Shores Meals on Wheels has been selected as Keweenaw Co-op’s first 2025 recipient of the Bring-A-Bag program. Every time a customer brings their own reusable bags to the Co-op, the Co-op will contribute to a truly wonderful cause. For every bag saved, Meals on Wheels will receive funds, January through June!
SLACK students creates cookies for seniors
Students from the Student Leadership Advisory Council of the Keweenaw (SLACK) got together before the holiday break to decorate holiday cookies that will be going to our Meals on Wheels participants! Thank you to all the students who helped out!
New year, new monthly menu!
Snow may be covering the ground, but that’s not stopping us from providing local produce to seniors. The kitchen team spent all summer processing and freezing local produce at peak freshness for the winter. See what we’re serving up in the new year. See the January 2025 menu.
Sharing meals & sharing the love
There’s just a few days left to be a part of the Subaru Share the Love Event! As part of a national partnership with Meals on Wheels America, Subaru of America, Inc. and its retailers will donate a minimum of $300 to a charity, like Copper Shores Meals on Wheels, for every new vehicle leased or sold between November 21, 2024, to January 2, 2025.
Keep an eye out for cookie sales in February!
March for Meals is right around the corner, we can’t wait to bring you a month of fun!
