July 2025 Menu Highlight

Written by Emilie Jacques | Jun 30, 2025 2:58:08 PM

The July menu is out to seniors in Copper Shores Meals on Wheels, and it’s filled with ingredients from local farmers and producers. We’re proud to bring seniors fresh and hearty meals while supporting the local agricultural economy.

Kicking off the month, our cooks are cooking up creamy tarragon chicken, with vegetables, coleslaw and fruit, using tarragon that was generously donated by Ransom Family Farm. The Ransoms have been incredible partners of Meals on Wheels over the years and just another example of the amazing community support our Meals on Wheels program has!

Some of the other meals with local ingredients include:

  • July 11 - Fresh fish, ancient grains, vegetables and fruit, cooked with fish from Peterson’s Fish Market.
  • July 15 - Pannukakku, bacon, breakfast potatoes and fruit, prepared with bacon from Buried Stone Farms.
  • July 25 - Bison tips and noodles, vegetables, whole wheat roll and fruit, made with bison from Cabot Farms.
  • July 31 - Sausage tortellini soup, crackers and blueberry crumble, using blueberries from Pancho’s Blueberry Farm.

We provide more than 300 seniors with a homemade, nutritionally balanced meal every weekday, but there are hundreds more in need that we are unable to serve.

Upcoming Millage Proposal

The Elder Nutrition Services millage proposal is on the August 5, 2025 ballot in Houghton County. If supported, the millage would provide Meals on Wheels with the resources needed to bring food and connection to all of Houghton County.
