Network, bid and help raise funds for local scholarships

Mark your calendar and join us on Thursday, December 8, 2022 for the eighth annual collaborative holiday celebration with a cause! There will also be an online auction that can be accessed starting Friday, December 2 and ending at the event at 9 p.m. on Thursday, December 8, 2022. Bidding can be done online or in person the night of the event at biddingowl.com/ctescholarships. This year’s auction will have more than 50+ items including several unique items crafted by the CCISD and high school CTE students.

The in-person event will be held on Thursday, December 8 at the Bonfire (408 E Montezuma Avenue; Houghton Michigan), beginning at 6 p.m. Admission to the event is $30 and guests are encouraged to pre-register through the Keweenaw Chamber of Commerce website

The Portage Health Foundation-KEDA CTE scholarship program ensures that one graduating senior from each of the high schools in Baraga, Houghton, Keweenaw, and Ontonagon Counties and the Horizons High School has available a $1,000 scholarship to pursue a certificate, one- or two-year career technical education program. PHF has committed to managing and providing the scholarships and KEDA has committed to continue to raise funds annually for the education scholarship endowment that PHF has established.

"It is because of the generosity of all the businesses in Baraga, Houghton, and Keweenaw Counties that these scholarships continue to be offered can continue to offer these scholarships. Students and parents are encouraged to contact their respective high school, the Portage Health Foundation or KEDA for more information on the scholarship program and an application,” said Jeff Ratcliffe, Executive Director of KEDA.

“This event is a great opportunity to come together and celebrate the season and our community. Attendees will have the opportunity to capture some memories at KYP’s holiday photo booth, enjoy tasty hors d’oeuvres, listen to music, and connect with local community members,” said Katie Schlief, of the Keweenaw Chamber of Commerce. “It’s great to see the community support of this event over the years and the commitment to raising funds to support local trades scholarships.”

The Bonfire has agreed to host the fundraiser again this year and the event will feature delicious appetizers, and desserts. The event will be held in the upper-level bar and a cash bar will be available. Live music throughout the night, sponsored by the Portage Health Foundation. Guests are encouraged to pre-register through the Keweenaw Chamber of Commerce website.
