Copper Shores Community Health Foundation is excited to receive $150,000 from the Michigan Health Endowment Fund to help feed families in the Copper Country.

“We are very grateful for this funding support from the Michigan Health Endowment Fund,” said Kevin Store, Copper Shores President/CEO. “Like us, many other area funders are equally concerned about the nutritional health and well-being of our friends and neighbors. This is another example of how together, we can find solutions at an appropriate scale to help address the needs that exist in our regional community.”

These funds will be used to help with emergent food supply procurement and efforts to build the local emergent food distribution network’s capacity to better serve and reach the community. Copper Shores is working with emergency food pantries, other safety net agencies including area shelter homes, recovery facilities and local law enforcement across the four-county service area to better identify emergent food needs and gaps in services.

“As public food assistance programs undergo major changes that could reduce access for many families, it’s vital that we invest in emergency organizations, including food banks, pantries and other providers that strengthen Michigan's food safety net,” said Kari Sederburg, Vice President of Programs for the Health Fund. “That’s why we're excited to support Copper Shores’ work with local partners as they build capacity to meet emergency food needs for residents in Michigan’s Copper Country.”
