“People are typically more familiar with suicide prevention, “ said Kristine Martens, Copper Shores Outreach & Eduction program director. “Suicide prevention focuses on reducing risk factors and strengthening protective supports before a crisis occurs, while suicide intervention is about recognizing when someone may be in immediate danger and knowing how to respond in that moment.”
ASIST provides tangible, life-saving tools for anyone who wants to be better prepared to help others, especially emergency first responders, health care professionals and individuals who regularly work with vulnerable populations.
