Copper Shores Community Health Foundation is excited to introduce the newest team member, Brenda Anttila. Serving as Administrative Assistant, Anttila is responsible for running the front desk at Copper Shores’ Mission Support office and ensuring that coworkers working directly with community members can focus on providing the best service possible.

Anttila is a lifelong yooper, having grown up in Toivola and graduating from Jeffers High School. She went on to attend Northern Michigan University, earning her bachelor’s degree in Environmental Conservation, with minors in mathematics and alternative energy.

“My degree is one of my biggest achievements,” said Anttila. “I’m very proud of getting it. I had to go to school on grants and scholarships and loans, so I know I’m very privileged to have gotten to complete my degree.”

After school, Anttila worked out of state for just seven months before deciding she needed to move back to the Copper Country. Anttila spends much of her time outdoors – hiking, rock-hunting, swimming, kayaking and more, as well as pursuing her interests in history and art.

Before coming to Copper Shores, Anttila worked at Michigan Technological University as a Coordinator in the Equal Opportunity Compliance office, monitoring federal equal opportunity laws and required reporting, fielding calls and completing clerical work - skills that make Anttila the perfect fit for the Administrative Assistant position at Copper Shores. Anttila takes and directs calls for Copper Shores’ main phone line, orders materials for employees across all departments, provides clerical support, updates and maintains office databases, provides administrative support to management staff and more.

"I’m excited to help move forward the mission,” said Anttila. “I hope I can help people working in our programs not have to worry about daily business and office challenges so they can focus on program work. Hopefully my role will be a good support for the staff and ultimately the community. I think it’s going to be a very fulfilling position, even if my feet aren’t on the ground.”
