Fall is just around the corner, and so is the October menu. Our team has been busy preparing this month’s menu, creating hearty, filling and nutritious meals, including at least one locally sourced ingredient in every single meal!
Copper Shores Meals on Wheels is able to purchase local produce and protein with support from a $1.28 million Local Food Purchase Agreement Cooperative grant received in 2023, and has since worked with more than 40 local producers and farmers in the area.
Some of the meals that feature local ingredients this month are:
- October 2 - Garden salad with vegetables and chicken, and jello, made with lettuce from Ghost House Farm and chicken from Buried Stone Farms.
- October 6 - Sausage, egg and cheese croissant, breakfast potatoes and a melon cup, cooked with potatoes from Minnie Farms.
- October 14 - Spaghetti with meat sauce, vegetables and garlic bread, prepared with beef from Frozen Farms Co.
- October 21 - Lamb stew, vegetable medley and brownie delight, using lamb from Kroff Farms.
- October 29 - Meatloaf, mashed potatoes, vegetables and apple sauce, made with beef from Ghost House Farm and potatoes from Johnson’s Potato Farm.
