Available for Copper Country agencies, organizations and workplaces

Life-saving skills just became more accessible in the Copper Country. Copper Shores Outreach & Education is now offering CPR training to agencies, organizations and workplaces in Baraga, Houghton, Keweenaw and Ontonagon counties.

The training follows the American Red Cross Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED blended learning program, combining the flexibility of online instruction with hands-on, in-person practice to ensure participants gain both knowledge and real-world skills.

“This opportunity moves our community toward greater resilience and well-being,” Outreach & Education Program Director Kristine Martens said. “We’re committed to providing meaningful, high-quality training for our staff and community partners, and excited to expand the topics we train in.”

What to expect

Participants begin with a self-paced online course covering first aid, CPR and AED fundamentals. After completing the online portion, participants attend a four-hour, in-person skills session led by a certified trainer from Copper Shores. During this session, participants practice techniques with partners and interactive CPR manikins, and receive individualized guidance before completing a final skills evaluation.

“This training is a great way to prepare your team for a variety of emergencies,” said Callisto Cortez, Outreach & Education youth development specialist. “You’ll not only learn how to perform CPR on adults, infants and children, but how to recognize the signs of cardiac arrest and how to help a choking person.”

Training is offered at a cost of $45 per person, with sessions capped at eight participants to ensure a high-quality, personalized learning experience. All participants must be 18 years or older.

Groups interested in bringing this training to their team can get started scheduling a session by contacting Cortez at cdcortez@coppershores.org or 1 (906) 523-5920 ext. 2061.
