Her background in the restaurant industry makes Moilanen a natural fit for the team. She has worked at several local businesses including the Loading Zone, Denali Restaurant and Louie's Fresh Market. Stepping into her new role with confidence, Moilanen is helping keep pace with the growing number of meals being prepared as Meals on Wheels continues to expand.
“Jamie's enthusiasm for serving our community, combined with her strong experience, made her an outstanding choice to join our team,” said Jessica Mills, Meals on Wheels program director. “We had the confidence in her ability to jump right into our busy kitchen.”
Along with her professional experience, Moilanen brings a strong sense of connection to the role. Her experience serving seniors began while volunteer cooking at a local nursing home, revitalizing her love of serving others. That passion and positive energy is baked into every bite, reflecting the heart of the mission at Meals on Wheels.
“It feels like family,” said Moilanen. “I love coming into work here.”
Moilanen was born and raised in Hubbell, building a deep love for the Copper Country and all it has to offer, especially during winter. When she’s not working, Moilanen loves spending time outdoors. Whether she’s ice skating, snowboarding, sledding, watching hockey or building snowmen with her children, she enjoys staying active and embracing the season.
Meals on Wheels is happy to have Moilanen on the team as she brings warmth, energy and a strong sense of community to the kitchen every day. As the program continues expanding its reach, Moilanen’s dedication and upbeat spirit help ensure every meal is served with care.
