Bingo Bonanza at The Bluffs: third annual fundraiser for Meals on Wheels
August 12, 2025 | By Emilie Jacques
Community members are invited to the third annual Bingo Bonanza at The Bluffs on Thursday, September 4, 2025 from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Bluffs Senior Community. Hosted by Copper Shores Community Health Foundation and The Bluffs Senior Community, proceeds from this fun-filled fundraiser go to support our local Meals on Wheels program.
Attendees can play all night for $15 or purchase additional cards between rounds for even more gameplay. The cost of entry includes two cards for each ground and automatic entry into more than $1,000 in raffle prizes. Bingo Bonanza features four rounds of Bingo, each with a little twist. Rounds last 20 minutes with 10-minute breaks between rounds.
For those looking to enjoy snacks while playing, Copper Shores Meals on Wheels is running light concessions, including soda and flavored popcorn. Complimentary coffee and water are also available. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early as seating is limited to the first 150 participants. Doors open at 5 p.m., giving attendees time to find their seats, purchase concessions and get ready for a night of community fun.
“Bingo Bonanza at The Bluffs started a few years ago during National Assisted Living Week as a way for us to give back and to get our residents involved in the community,” said Abbie Parker, business office director at The Bluffs. “It was a smashing success that we knew needed to continue.”
Many folks face increasing isolation as they age, which can be detrimental to not only mental health, but physical health as well. The Surgeon General’s 2023 report “Our Epidemic of Isolation and Loneliness,” states that feelings of loneliness and isolation lead to an increased risk of premature death by 26 and 29 percent respectively. This report underpins the important work that Meals on Wheels does, providing not only flavorful and nutritionally balanced meals, but friendly, and sometimes life-saving, daily check-ins from dedicated delivery drivers.
“Connecting with others is so important, especially as we age,” said Kathleen Harter, Meals on Wheels program director. “Bingo is a great way to enjoy an evening out with friends while meeting new people. Socializing helps us stay engaged and uplifted, and it's vital for our brain health, as well as our physical and emotional well-being.”
