CTE Training AwardedMore Copper Country students will have a chance to explore careers in health. The PHFoundation recently awarded $50,000 to the district to be used for health careers education and vocational training. "Because the Copper Country doesn't have a millage for the programs, the District has to charge local schools $1,500 per student for health careers, auto tech, and nurse's aide." said George Stockero, CCISD Superintendent.

The grant is earmarked for health careers, but the additional monies will enable schools to devote more money to sending students to other areas of training, too.

"Vocational training and career exploration is an important part of a healthy community." said Kevin Store, Executive Director of the PHFoundation. "We are pleased to be able to help create an environment where more young people can explore their vocational interests and expand their perspective on potential careers."

(L-R) Bernadette Yeoman-Oullette, PHFoundation Grant Committee Chair; Kevin Store, PHFoundation Ex. Director; Lori Maki, HOSA Coordinator CCISD; George Stockero, CCISD Superintendent; Lennon Mattila-Hughes PHFoundation Chair , and Chelsea Goodreau, PHFoundation Fund Development Asst.
