Congratulations to Wayne Stordahl, Do Good Volunteer of October 2025!
"At the age of 89, Wayne recently stepped down as a long-serving member of the Hancock Trails Club Board of Directors. In this capacity, he has coordinated the annual Barnelopet ski races for area children held each February. He also founded, coordinated and volunteered for the ski program at Barkell Elementary School in Hancock, where the club has helped students get cross country skiing experience as part of their physical education classes. In addition to being involved with the club's many activities to improve the club's trails, Wayne has also been involved with the design and production of the trailhead kiosk at the back of the Houghton County Fairgrounds. Wayne also volunteered his time and skills as a Civil Engineer to the City of Hancock to survey and layout the perimeter of the dog park fencing prior to its construction in 2022. Wayne has quietly had a big impact on getting residents involved with cross-country skiing, which is a life-long activity that can help maintain good physical and mental health!"
