The PHFoundation is pleased to announce its partnership with the Keweenaw Community Foundation to provide $5,000 in funds for the development of the Alive Inside music and memory program at area nursing care facilities. The program provides customized playlists, which consist of music, books, and podcasts to residents in nursing homes and elsewhere who suffer from cognitive and physical challenges such as memory loss, depression, pain, and/or isolation. Through listening to playlists on iPods, caregivers are able to provide their patients with a variety of music designed to bring joy, comfort, and renewed meaning to patient lives. The belief is that by listening to music, patients are able to access deep memories, which can help them feel like themselves again.
