Building Blocks: Infants Feeding Fundamentals returns November 8, 2025
September 30, 2025 | By Emilie Jacques
Building Blocks: Infant Feeding Fundamentals is back on Saturday, November 8, 2025 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Finnish American Heritage Center in downtown Hancock. Copper Shores Community Health Foundation and UP Health System - Portage invite parents, grandparents, day care providers and other infant caretakers to join for an overview of infant nutrition basics, allergen introductions, proper feeding posture, fine motor skill development and more from local health professionals. Infants around 12 months old, or younger, are welcome at this hands-on, interactive event.
“Introducing solids is an exciting milestone in a baby’s first year, and proper infant feeding techniques play a key role in supporting growth and development,” said Taylor Paul, Registered Dietitian Nutritionist at UP Health System - Portage. “The way babies learn to eat impacts not only their nutrition, but also their motor skills, sensory experiences and relationship with food.”
Attendees will have the opportunity to try out new, evidence-based approaches, tools, tips and techniques in a safe and supportive environment. Many of the presenters are not only health professionals, but parents themselves, and have first-hand experience raising little ones. In addition, attendees will have the opportunity to walk away with prizes that are directly related to the presentations and recommendations provided at Building Blocks.
“By focusing on safe, responsive feeding practices, families can help set the foundation for healthy eating habits and positive development,” said Paul. “It truly takes a team, like your hometown pediatricians, dietitians, therapists and caregivers to guide infants through this important stage.”
