Coming full-circle: Angela Coon joins Copper Shores full-time

Recently welcoming her to a brand new company role, Copper Shores Community Health Foundation is thrilled to have Angela Coon on the team. As the receptionist at Copper Shores’ newly renovated Water Street office in Hancock, Coon greets guests; takes calls; connects guests, clients and participants with team members; and supports program staff by keeping the office stocked and organized. Once someone who walked through the doors seeking help herself, Coon is now the first friendly face greeting others who are doing the same.
“Angela is so warm and cheery,” said Natasha Berg, Copper Shores Director of Human Resources and Compliance. “She makes you feel so comfortable, perfect for the receptionist position.”
At her previous job, Coon served as the front desk manager at the Quality Inn & Suites in downtown Houghton while simultaneously earning her Associate’s degree from Gogebic Community College. In December of 2025, Coon graduated with honors from GCC. Equipped with new skills and well-practiced ones, Coon has picked up the responsibilities of the role with ease, quickly learning the ropes and making herself a valued team member.
“It's great to see how passionate everyone is,” said Coon. “And if I can be a part of that, I would love it.”
Before becoming the receptionist, Coon had long been involved with Copper Shores Bridges, a program dedicated to helping individuals strengthen stability, build independence and rediscover hope. Coon began her journey with Bridges in the fall of 2023, participating in Bridges’ keystone course, Getting Ahead, later completing the follow-up course, Financial Bootcamp, in the spring of 2024.
Coon’s involvement continued to grow when she stepped up to take on a facilitator role for Getting Ahead in the fall of 2024, taking the opportunity to support those on a similar journey to her own. When the chance to join Copper Shores as a full-time team member came about, Coon applied without hesitation.
“We really saw her capacity for growth,” said Berg. “She already had so much confidence coming into her Facilitator interview, and this new position has been a wonderful opportunity to see that growth continue.”
Coon looks forward to learning more about the inner workings of the Foundation and how she can better support her fellow staff and community members.
“Stepping into this role feels like a full circle moment for me,” said Coon. “I was once someone just walking through the door looking for support, and now I get to be one of the first faces people see when they walk in. It’s very meaningful.”
