“Being poor is like climbing a hill with a backpack full of rocks… some of us just have more rocks than others.” - Bridges Graduate
Copper Shores Community Health Foundation invites community members to learn about the Bridges program, challenge common misconceptions about poverty and explore how stronger support systems can create lasting change. This free workshop takes place Tuesday, June 30, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Copper Shores Water Street conference room.
“The entire community is impacted by poverty,” said Rich Simpson, Copper Shores Bridges program coordinator. “It affects workforce stability, education outcomes and overall economic health.”
Take part in an eye-opening experience that explores the hidden rules of society and the realities of poverty while examining the factors that weigh on decision making amongst economic classes. This workshop combines research-based insights with practical strategies to help individuals and organizations strengthen relationships and build more effective support systems. Attendees will leave with tools to improve communication, foster stability and help create pathways toward opportunity and hope.
“Poverty is more than a lack of money,” Simpson said. “It’s the extent to which a person lacks multiple resources, including the emotional, mental, social and physical support we all need to thrive. Poverty highlights how instability in these areas creates barriers to long-term success and opportunity.”
Understanding the true weight of poverty is the first step toward creating lasting change. Join Copper Shores for a day of learning, discussion and practical strategies that strengthen individuals, families and communities. The workshop is open to the public and designed for individuals, organizations and community leaders seeking practical tools to better support those experiencing poverty.
