June 2025 Menu Highlight
May 29, 2025 | By Emilie Jacques
Summer has arrived, and with it comes a fresh, flavorful June menu from Copper Shores Meals on Wheels. This month’s meals are filled with locally sourced ingredients made possible by the remaining funds from the $1.28 million Local Food Purchase Agreement Program grant.
This month, seniors can look forward to meals crafted with fresh produce and proteins from nearby farms, supporting both nutrition and local agriculture. Here are a few highlights:
- Thursday, June 5: Chicken salad with ranch and a blueberry muffin, featuring chicken from Buried Stone Farms, salad mix from Ghost House Farm and blueberries from Pancho’s Blueberry Farm.
- Friday, June 13: Pepperoni, mushroom and sausage pizza served with salad and an oatmeal raisin cookie, made using sausage from Buried Stone Farms and lettuce from Ghost House Farm.
- Wednesday, June 25: Pannukakku, bacon, potatoes and fruit, using bacon from Buried Stone Farms and potatoes from Johnson’s Potato Farm.
- Friday, June 27: Chicken broccoli pizza served with salad and a chocolate chip pumpkin muffin, prepared with chicken from Buried Stone Farms, salad mix from Ghost House Farm, and pumpkin from Ransom Family Farm.
While the focus remains on delicious, community-sourced ingredients and meals, there are some temporary changes to the delivery schedule that seniors should be aware of.
Due to renovation work at the Water Street Building, the kitchen and office will be closed Monday, June 16 to Monday, June 23. While normal delivery and Meet & Eat services will be paused, home delivered meals and wellness checks will occur on Tuesday, June 17 and Thursday, June 19. Normal operations will resume on Tuesday, June 24.
For questions or concerns regarding the upcoming closure, message us online at coppershores.org/meals-on-wheels, call (906) 483-1155 or email Meals on Wheels Program Director Kathleen Harter at kharter@coppershores.org.
