The recently reconstituted Portage Health Foundation is celebrating the opening of its new office located at 400 Quincy Street in downtown Hancock, Michigan. A Business after Hours event is being hosted by the Foundation on April 16th from 5-7p.m to reintroduce the foundation to the community.
Along with the new office location, the Portage Health Foundation has begun identifying its core areas of emphasis and says with the recent separation from the Portage Hospital, it will begin a new era of community reinvestment and philanthropy that will be focused on supporting the charitable health needs of the four-county community.
Kevin Store, Executive Director of the Portage Health Foundation, said the organization is taking a different approach to strategic giving and is working on many matters necessary to get the new charitable organization established and well-positioned to begin funding relative and innovative initiatives in the upcoming months. "We intend to collaborate with other community organizations to address systemic issues within our community." Store said.
At the current time, the Foundation is focused on addressing the management of its portfolio and has recently announced an RFP for investment management services.
In addition, Store said that the foundation is seeking community members to serve on one of three committees. "The committees will be key to further developing the Foundation's strategic plan as well as provide input towards the governance of the organization." Store, added.
The Portage Health Foundation separated from Portage Hospital following the joint venture transaction between the hospital and LIfePoint Hospitals this past December. As a result, the Portage Health Foundation was the recipient of the net proceeds from the transaction and currently has a diversified portfolio with a market value of approximately $35 million dollars.
The Business After Hours event is scheduled for Wednesday April 16th from 5-7pm at the Portage Health Foundation Offices located at 400 Quincy Street in Hancock.
