Congratulations to the latest Superior Educator - Darren Kinnunen of Horizons Alternative High School.

Mr. Kinnunen talked to him so calmly and helped him feel at ease. Horizons is absolutely amazing, and they go unnoticed, but I just want them to know that this mom NOTICED and had tears when he showed up to watch my kid play the sport he loves again."

"Darren is a great educator because he is a fantastic listener. He was previously the social worker for the elementary school at Calumet, and did a wonderful job there. He has been doing great work with the students at Horizons Alternative High School, and I have heard a lot of people from the community bragging about his summer work programs for the students and his carnival for the elementary students designed and implemented by Horizons, to name a couple. Darren is a fantastic educator, because he is a positive role model for students and treats everyone with respect."
