Celebrating 10 years of giving with #GiveCopperCountry

Applications are now open for the 10th annual GivingTuesday in the Copper Country organized by Copper Shores Community Health Foundation. Applications are due Tuesday, August 25, 2026. 

2026-07-10-Social-Media-GivingTuesday-Applications-Now-Open-OL-1080x1350Together, more than $5.8 million has been raised to support Copper Country nonprofits since 2017, including an incredible $1,175,425.81 in 2025. Copper Shores will once again have the $200,000 available this year to boost donations through the #GiveCopperCountry  Amplification Fund. To be eligible, an organization must meet the following criteria:

  • Be recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
  • Be domiciled (incorporated) in Baraga, Houghton, Keweenaw, and/or Ontonagon counties in Michigan and serve the citizens of the same.
  • Have a current License to Solicit Charitable Contributions.
  • Must not be a religious or educational institution.
  • Have a mission related to Copper Shores Community Health Foundation's Strategic Goals and Objectives.
    • OR raise funds for a specific project at your nonprofit organization that relates to those areas.

About GivingTuesday

GivingTuesday happens on the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving, this year on December 1, as a way for the community to give back to the nonprofit organizations that make Baraga, Houghton, Keweenaw and Ontonagon Counties more healthful. With a boost from Copper Shores’ #GiveCopperCountry Amplification Fund, more than $5.8 million has been raised for nonprofits through community donations since 2017.

How to apply

Nonprofits interested in raising money for their cause need to have someone associated with the organization complete the application. In addition to answering some basic questions, Copper Shores requires that nonprofits submit their license to solicit while filling out the application. If this filing is not current, Copper Shores will also need proof of granted time extension or proof of submission.
