Copper Shores Community Health Foundation is excited to welcome Curtis Beck and Peter Sparks to the Meals on Wheels team. They each bring unique skills to the program, enhancing meals and wellness checks with the high quality service Meals on Wheels prides itself on providing.
“We’re excited to have two people with experience in senior nutrition,” said Jessica Mills, Meals on Wheels program director. “We’ve been short-staffed for a few months, and their addition allows us to get back to our main vision of providing the best-quality, locally sourced meals we can for our seniors.”
Beck has taken on the full-time role of cook, bringing with him nearly three decades of culinary experience and a zest for creative cooking endeavors. His puree presentation skills will turn heads, redefining the experience for those that need mechanically altered meals.
“I like being on a team and doing work that feels fulfilling,” said Beck. “I get to improve people’s quality of life, while also improving my own.”
As the newest full-time Food Service Specialist, Sparks is using his wealth of caretaking knowledge to give back to local seniors. In addition to caring for his parents, Sparks has years of experience working in nursing homes, cooking for hundreds of seniors each day.
“I feel like I’m contributing to the community that made me,” said Sparks. “They’re the ones who raised me, and now I get to care for them in return.”
Beck and Sparks are helping Meals on Wheels continue to put dignity back in dining, carrying out Copper Shores’ commitment to ending senior hunger and isolation in the Copper Country.
