Navigating Nutrition at the Keweenaw Co+Op, June 11, 2026
Take home practical tips and tools from the third Navigating Nutrition session, all about breakfast and how fueling the body in the morning shapes the rest of the day. Join registered dietitian and Copper Shores Community Health Educator, Meghan Jaszczak, for this laid back presentation at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 11 at the Keweenaw Co+Op.
"Eating breakfast is associated with many beneficial outcomes surrounding cardiovascular health,” said Jaszczak. “A balanced breakfast can lower triglyceride levels and increase HDL levels, both of which decrease the risk of heart disease and stroke."
In addition to its long-term effects, eating breakfast plays a key role in the body’s daily functioning, such as maintaining consistent energy levels. Some research indicates that having a protein-rich breakfast can quiet the reward center of the brain, leading to a reduction in cravings and an increase in satiety, the feeling of fullness, throughout the day.
"I'm excited to dive into the many health benefits of a nutrient-rich breakfast, and highlight simple and realistic recipe ideas for you to try at home,” said Jaszczak.
Navigating Nutrition is open to all, with no cost to attend. Get a taste of free samples, including overnight oats and a veggie egg bake, and walk away feeling more confident about starting your day off strong.
