More than $100,000 in scholarships available for 2026 graduates

Copper Shores Community Health Foundation has opened applications for its 2026 scholarship offerings, totaling $106,000 in support for Copper Country students. Copper Shores is awarding a four renewable $5,000 scholarships, six scholarships for career and technical education and six donor-designated scholarships. Applications are due by Friday, February 27, 2026.

In total, Copper Shores will award 16 scholarships to students across Baraga, Houghton, Keweenaw and Ontonagon counties. Applications are open to students graduating in 2026 from Baraga, Calumet, Chassell, Dollar Bay-Tamarack City, Ewen-Trout Creek, Hancock, Horizons, Houghton, Jeffers, Lake Linden-Hubbell, L’Anse and Ontonagon high schools.

Copper Shores 2025 Scholarship Offerings

Copper Shores Educational Scholarship - Four $5,000 awards (renewable for up to $20,000)

Four $5,000 scholarships are being offered for the upcoming 2026-2027 academic year. These scholarships are renewable for up to three additional consecutive years, totaling $20,000, for undergraduate education providing the student maintains eligibility. The student must plan on attending a public college or university in Michigan.

Copper Shores/KEDA Scholarship - Six $2,000 awards

In partnership with Keweenaw Economic Development Alliance, six $2,000 scholarships are available as one-time awards to be expended in the 2026-2027 academic year for students pursuing a certificate or associate degree in the skilled trades or career technical education program.

Kirkish Educational Scholarship - Two $2,500 awards

Copper Shores will award two $2,500 scholarships, available as one-time awards to be expended in the 2026-2027 academic year, to assist the recipients in covering educational costs at a post-secondary school of their choosing.

Kirkish Congregational Scholarship - Two $2,500 awards

Two $2,500 scholarships are available for graduating high school students and currently-enrolled college students as one-time awards to be expended in the 2026-2027 academic year. At the donor’s request, the students must be congregation members of St. Ignatius Loyola and/or St. Albert the Great churches in Houghton.

McIntyre Family Scholarship - Two $2,000 awards

Copper Shores will award two $2,000 scholarships to graduating seniors from Ontonagon High School. The scholarship is a one-time award to be expended in the 2026-2027 academic year in the skilled trades or career and technical education program.

How to apply

Applications must be postmarked, emailed or delivered to Copper Shores no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, February 27, 2026. Applications can be mailed to, or dropped off in-person, at 400 Quincy Street, Hancock, MI, 49930, or emailed to info@coppershores.org.
